Families

When you have suffered the loss of a loved one, clearing their home can be a painful process.  Our professional team will be considerate and mindful of this at all times.  We’ll help to ensure the clearance is done as quickly and painlessly as possible, whilst handling the unrequired material carefully and respectfully.  We will do everything we can, in our own small way, to help your family in what we know are very difficult circumstances.

Executors

As Executor of the deceased’s Will, part of your responsibilities will be ensuring that specified items are passed to their family and friends, as instructed.  This may include the property itself, or may require the property to be prepared for sale.  You may need various items to be removed from the property and disposed of.  Our experienced staff will do so quickly, professionally, and discreetly.

Solicitors

If you are taking care of a client’s estate after their passing, we’ll ensure that the home, and the unrequired contents, are cleared quickly and professionally.  Your work, and ours, requires both professionalism and compassion.  We’ll arrange with you to gain access to the property as soon as possible.  We will remain in close contact during the clearance process, to ensure that nothing required by inheritors or creditors is removed.  Professional reputation is built by handling such situations properly.  You can trust our experienced team to take care of your client’s property with the utmost respect and discretion.

How we approach probate services

Our probate and executry clearance teams are experienced, conscientious and provide excellent service.

We pride ourselves on always providing an accurate quote.  To ensure this, our team may perform an on-site survey first.  We will carefully coordinate when the clearance will take place with the family, executor or Solicitor of the deceased.  This will include agreeing the date and time of arrival, arranging access, discussion of what material is to be disposed of and anything that is to remain, point of contact, and any other essential information.  In such difficult circumstances, we ensure our teams complete the required work as quickly and discreetly as possible.

A home can contain a great many different kinds of materials, and they all need to disposed of safely and responsibly.  As much as possible will be recycled.

Junk-it are Scotland’s experts in probate and executry clearances.  Organising and completing it can be daunting and difficult, especially to the family of the deceased, but our professional team will make it as quick and simple as possible.

If your loved one has passed, if you are an Executor of their Will, or if you are their Solicitor, contact us for a quote and to discuss your needs.

We uplift almost anything. The few exceptions are food waste, liquids and hazardous waste. Everything we uplift is sorted and items that can be recycled are taken to the relevant recycling centres, this includes WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), domestic and commercial fridges, wood, metal, paper, cardboard and WUDS (Waste Upholstered Domestic Seating).

Yes, it’s what we do. We appreciate the difficulty, stress and emotion involved with clearing the property of a loved one. We have many years of experience in this area so are equipped to help with kindness and sensitivity. Give us a call to discuss your needs.

We understand it can be a shock when you discover a friend or relative was a hoarder. You may be experiencing feelings of embarrassment, guilt or even despair, especially if you are the one left with the responsibility of clearing the property.

However, it’s a more common situation than you may imagine and one we have more than a little experience with. We cover properties in and around Glasgow, Edinburgh and Central Scotland. Give us a call, we’re here to help.

Yes, if you are unable to meet us at the property, we can collect keys held by a local estate agent, solicitor or letting agent.

Every property and situation is different which is why we provide free no obligation quotes. Please get in touch to discuss via phone, email or our online enquiry form.

Items like mattresses and fridges require multiple steps to ensure responsible disposal. We use a custom mattress recycling centre that deconstruct mattresses ensuring that each component is recycled or disposed of in the correct way. The same goes for fridges which need to be degassed before they can be recycled.

New legislation (as of January 2024 in Scotland) regarding the disposal of waste upholstered domestic seating (WUDS) containing fire retardants has meant that sofas are now one of the most expensive items to dispose of as measures must be taken to prevent persistent organic pollutants (POPs) from escaping into the environment. You can read more about WUDS and POP on our blog.

No, our service is much better than hiring a skip! We provide truck teams to do all the lifting and loading. We remove almost anything, notable exceptions are food waste, liquids and hazardous material. Bulk waste uplift and rubbish removal can be carried out by our team on the day of your appointment, saving you time and energy! And you only pay for the space your junk takes up in the truck.

We do all the lifting, loading and clean up for you and our charges reflect only the volume of junk we remove. With skip hire, you pay for the entire volume of the skip, regardless of how much you fill.

There is also the added hassle and expense of applying for a skip permit in advance and the fact that you need to do all the loading and clearing up yourself. On top of all that, you usually have to put up with neighbours using your skip to dump their own junk as well!

Our rates are based on the amount and type of junk being removed. Until we see what is to be removed, we can’t give you an exact price. Once at the premises, our team will review the materials to be removed and provide you with a free no obligation quote before any work is carried out. If you are happy with the quote, the work can usually be carried out there and then.

For larger jobs or commercial work, we can arrange a site visit in order to provide a quote and the uplift can be scheduled at a later date, once the quote has been approved and all the invoicing details are confirmed.

No, we do all the heavy lifting and loading. Our uniformed staff can collect items from anywhere inside or outside the property. On occasion an additional labour charge may apply if it’s particularly labour intensive, time consuming or out with our normal working hours.

The vast majority is recycled or reused by being donated to local charities or taken to specialist recycling facilities. Where those options are not possible we take waste to licensed Waste Transfer Stations where it is sorted and disposed of in the least environmentally damaging way possible.

The way it works is, we arrange an appointment with you for a truck team to stop by. You point out what you would like removed. The driver will tell you how much it will cost based on volume. If you are happy with the quote the guys will load up your junk and take it away. You can view our prices here. We provide free no obligation quotes.

Junk-it is a professional junk removal and property clearance company. Our trucks are branded and our guys wear Junk-it uniforms so we’re easy to recognise! We are SEPA registered so have a Waste Carriers License.
