We’ve removed a lot of junk this year, giving customers back their valuable space!
We helped local schools and community projects, carried out hotel and office clearances and, as usual, helped make homes feel more spacious. Our Junk Heroes spread cheer across Scotland all year round!
In May, two truck teams of Junk Heroes went to help Hillview Primary School tidy up their nature trail. This was made possible by our generous Clyde 1 competition winner who donated her free junk pick-up to help the school.
How amazing is that?
At Junk-It we’re proud of our charity partnerships and our aim to donate or recycle the majority of what we remove from commercial and domestic properties. A lot of people, and the planet, benefit from a good clear-out!
We’ve been supporting Trees for Life, a Scottish rewilding charity, for a few years now. The great thing about this partnership is that we plant a tree for every truck we fill with a customer’s junk. There are now over 1350 newly planted trees in the Junk-It grove, so you can breathe easy knowing your junk is going towards supporting Scotland’s forests and wildlife.
Junk-It also supports Starter Packs, which has branches throughout Scotland to help families and individuals obtain useful items for moving into a new home. Starter Packs support people affected by homelessness, poverty, domestic violence and other difficult situations, helping them settle in and empowering them to make a new start. Items such as furniture, bedding and kitchen equipment can make all the difference to someone who needs to start again and it’s incredible to see how our customers’ ‘junk’ can become not only useful but life-changing.
DIY enthusiasts can save money by borrowing from the Glasgow Tool Library, a great community initiative supported by Junk-It. They loan out equipment for DIY as well as outdoor projects and homemaking, promoting sustainability, repairing and recycling. The best things in life really are free!
Our festive opening times:
Our Junk Heroes will be taking a well-deserved break and putting their feet up with a mug of mulled wine from 23rd December to 3rd January. We look forward to clearing away your junk again on 4th January 2023.
We would like to wish all our customers a very messy Christmas and a junk-free New Year! And all the best for 2023!
